I grew up in Woodhaven, NY, the second youngest of 6 children. I've been making art since I could walk.
After graduating from St.
John's University's fine arts program in 1993, I decided to take a position in security
at the Metropolitan
Museum of Art while I built my portfolio.
While at the Met I spent lots of time visiting the art. No other experience could have
granted me as much knowledge of art history and a visual knowledge
of painting techniques as that experience did.
I first became interested in web development in 1996 as a means
to get my portfolio on the internet. My first web site was a simple
gallery of scans of my work, and not much else. In the
process of learning what I needed to know to create my web site,
I recognized that there was an entire world of technology and web
development that I was interested in exploring. I was raised in
a home filled with gadgets and computers. My Father was a programmer and technologist by trade, and
I was lucky enough to have his guidance and instruction from an early age.
I wrote my first program in BASIC when I was 11 on a Tandy
Coco.
I left my job at the Met in 1997, and began designing and developing web sites full time.
I am currently the Creative Director of Gabriels.net,
an internet development and services group catering to the real estate
industry. I paint and draw as much as I can, and I'm trying to break into the illustration field.
I post new ideas and new art in my blog,
and my New Year's resolution is to post one new piece of art every week in the coming New Year.
Let's see how it goes....
